About Baby Shower Invitations For Your Baby Party Celebrations

No one type of shower is going to be perfect for all new parents. In most cases, the host has to decide which type of shower is going to be the best choice. For parents expecting two bundles of joy instead of one, a twin babies shower might be the perfect choice. Instead, of one cake there could be two. In fact, everything could be doubled. Finding invitations specifically for this type of shower is possible through some online vendors. About Baby Shower Party and For Your Baby Celebrations

Ask each guest to bring their baby shower invitation to the event then put them in a big box and let the mom-to-be select one or two to win door prizes. This is a good idea if the party might not be long enough to play many games. Another idea is to give every guest a clothes pin when they arrive. Have a secret word, such as “diapers” or “baby,” then each time someone says the word the guest who catches them gets the other clothes pin. Different Baby Shower Types For Your Baby Shower Party

A surprise shower appeals to many hosts. The main objective here is keeping the celebrations a secret so the guests of honor can be surprised when they arrive or when the party arrives to them such as might be the case with a welcome home babies shower. Nevertheless the host needs to choose the surprise shower cards that will be effective in reminding the guests to keep the party a secret from the parents to be. For example, many have some cards that show a stork bringing two babies to a new home, and cards depicting two precious babies in front of castle. On the latter card, you can even choose from cards illustrating two boys, two girls, or one of each gender. These cards are definitely going to be a great way to introduce the twin baby shower to the guests.
Decorations for Baby Shower Type
Because the parents of twins are going to need so much in terms of supplies, having a diaper cake could be a great idea. If you’re not familiar with them, there are sites that do sell them and allow you to customize them. As the name suggests, these are cake-like structures made from diapers and ribbon. The diapers are reusable after the shower that can be a huge help for new parents.
Plus, you can have the cake decorated with baby items, such as rattles, pacifiers, and baby bottles. Another idea for the twins baby shower is to have two of everything, including two real cakes, two types of ice creams, two different color themes, and more. In fact, the number two could even be your theme. You’ll probably find plenty of decorating possibilities in the birthday section.
Games
After you start mailing the twin baby shower invites, you’ll probably want to begin brainstorming some ideas for games that would be appropriate for the twin theme. For starters, you could play a game where people have to identify famous twins, such as Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Another idea would be to ask questions about movies or television shows featuring twins, such as The Parent Trap or Escape to Witch Mountain. Since the babies will probably arrive early, you could have the guests choose a different date for their arrival. The guest who comes closest to guessing the actual birth date would win a prize. Be sure and plan the games around the baby coed shower or couples baby shower guests.
Gifts
No Twin Baby Shower could be complete without gifts. Unfortunately for the guests, two babies are going to mean double the gifts. If the mother-to-be is registering somewhere, she should also remember this when selecting items. Although it’s not good etiquette to remind guests to purchase more than one of anything they buy, sending a specific baby invite for a twin baby shower will probably give them the hint.

Baby Shower Cake Alternatives

01310672999_084.jpgDainty ducks made out of sugar frosting are great for a first birthday party, but the new grandma in the room might secretly be wishing it were something a little more…interesting. After all, it’s not often that friends and family can come together to celebrate a new pregnancy, so why not forgo the traditional store-bought baby shower cake with the pastel building blocks and make something that adults will be more than eager to sink their teeth into?
If you’re looking to break away from the traditional baby shower cake routine, try these sophisticated and interesting alternatives!
Frozen cakes are great, especially in the summer – they take minimal ingredients and incorporating your favorite ice cream flavor into the recipe is easy!
Or you can try individual cakes for your guests. Chocolate lava cakes are a great treat that you can garnish with fresh raspberries or chocolate dipped strawberries for a healthy illusion.
Why not go with a decadent, calorie-laden cheesecake? A turtle cheesecake is a great way to go. Hey, if you’re going to cheat on your diet, why not make it out?!
There’s also the gluten-free option. This is a great idea for guests with special dietary needs. You could try a gluten-free yellow cake recipe adapted for individual cupcakes if you don’t want to make a whole cake. These are sure to be appreciated by some of your guests!
Any of these cakes or desserts can easily be decorated to coincide with your baby shower theme. Decorative cake toppers, accents and lay-on graphics can add the finishing touches to whatever you decide to whip up.

Baby Shower Cakes

f_21311022941_nursery.jpgBaby showers are an exciting way to welcome a baby into the world and are great occasions for the parents-to-be to receive the blessings of all their well wishers. Generally given by friends and co-workers, baby showers are much more than just parties. They provide a chance for the guests to get together and maybe even meet the new baby if the baby is already born.

Baby shower cakes are also known as diaper cakes or just baby cakes. Unlike regular cakes, these are made of several baby items like diapers, bibs, pacifiers, bottles, shoes, socks, and toys that new parents will need for the baby. Baby shower cakes look just like conventional cakes but they are far from edible!

Baby shower cakes are decorated to suit the theme of the party. The size of the cake can also differ according to the kinds of gifts it contains. They can be one, two, three, or even four-tiered. They can be placed as a center piece at the party and later taken home by the mom-to-be as a gift.

Baby shower cakes can be based on several themes like, teddy bears, duckies, baby booties, baby bottles, storks, nursery rhymes, or fairy tales to make them look cute and adorable. The rest of the gifts can be based on the theme of the baby shower cake.

There are special stores that make and sell baby shower cakes. There are also several websites on the internet that offer advice for decorating baby shower cakes. These sites also make and sell baby cakes as per the personalized requirements of the customers. Another way to get ideas for baby shower cakes is to attend a few baby showers or to ask a few people who have had a baby shower or arranged one. Ideas are sure to shower.

Stages of Baby’s Development – A Newborn’s Basic Instincts

11310673424_babies-headphones.jpgNewborns also exhibit many reflex responses to external stimulation and these patterns and reflexes help the baby to manage their energy resources as well as their responses to what is around them.

Just after birth, there is often a short spell where the baby is attentive, looking at and responding to people.
Sleep patterns of a newborn vary. Research has identified six different states of infant awareness:

Quiet or deep sleep: Baby will have eyes closed with no eye movements and no activity apart from occasional jerky movements; regular breathing.
Active or light sleep: Baby’s eyes are closed but rapid eye movements can be observed; breathing may be irregular, activity level is low.
Drowsiness: Baby’s eyes may open and close but appear dull when open; there is delayed response to stimulation and activity level varies.
Alert inactivity: Baby’s eyes are open and bright; his/her attention will focus on outside stimuli such as a ceiling light or something bright.
Alert activity: Baby’s eyes are open; activity level is high. Baby will react to stimulation and show increased startles and motor activity.
Crying: Intense crying that is hard to stop; high levels of motor activity.

A newborn will exhibit several reflexive responses. Some will last for life. The presence or absence of reflexes and their developmental course will give information about the baby’s neural responses. For instance when the doctor runs a thumb along the left side of baby’s spinal column, the baby should reflexively bend to the left. If this reflex occurs on one side but not the other it is possible the nerves are damaged on the side that shows no reflexive reaction.
Other reflexes a newborn will show include:

Rooting Reflex: Stroke a newborn’s cheek next to the side of his mouth and baby will turn his head to that side and search with his mouth.
Moro Reflex: Baby will thrust arms outward, open hands, arch back and stretch legs outward before clenching fists across chest in reaction to a sudden sound or the loss of head support.
Palmar or hand grasp: Baby will grasp a finger or rod with his finger.
Stepping Reflex: Support baby in upright position with bare feet on flat surface and baby will make rhythmic stepping movements. This reflex disappears in two to three months.
Swimming Reflex: Hold baby horizontally on stomach in water and baby will alternate arm and leg movements, exhaling through mouth. This reflex disappears at six months.
Plantar or toe grasp: Press finger against ball of baby’s foot and he will curl all toes under. This reflex disappears between eight and twelve months.

Although reflexes are usually automatic, it has been found that environmental factors do affect their appearance for instance a satiated baby may not show a rooting response.
Development in Baby’s First Month – ilestones in Infant’s Development
All babies will develop differently however research helps give a general indication of the different stages of development in infants and approximately when these stages might be seen.
As well as the different stages of development, research also helps suggest when these stages might be seen.
Just after birth baby’s birth weight will drop and this is regained when baby is approximately ten days old.
Newborns will sleep and eat whenever they need it. Some babies sleep as much as twenty hours a day, waking randomly, others might need less sleep and may spend time crying instead.
During the first month the baby will begin to recognize mother’s voice and smell.
Sight and Hearing during the First Few Months of Life
A newborn will turn his head from side to side when lying on his stomach; he will exhibit poor head control when lifted and display alternating movements of his legs when on stomach as if trying to crawl. At this stage too, baby will automatically grasp and hold onto a finger.
Familiar sounds may elicit some response in baby for instance he might respond to music or a TV program his mother watched regularly while he was in her womb. He will be comforted by familiar voices and should be left to sleep with a background of general household sounds. Baby will turn head towards voices, from birth.
Baby can see from birth but a newborn has difficulty focusing beyond nine inches (22 cm). Adults should make regular eye contact with baby. Over the first few weeks baby’s sight will sharpen until at about six to eight months, he will see the world almost as well as an adult does.
Baby’s hearing is fully mature at the end of the first month. By two months baby will be able to focus both eyes and track a moving object. (Some do this earlier). Also at two months baby will see color differences more clearly.
How Adults Can Help Baby’s Development
Studies have shown babies prefer human faces to patterns; keep your face close to the newborn so he or she can study your features. When baby is one month old, almost anything passed in front of his face will transfix him. Hold shiny, colorful objects in front of baby and move them up and down. This should attract his attention and encourage his interest in colors. Hang eye-catching mobiles where baby can see them.
Always be sure to support baby’s neck when he is being lifted. Talk to baby continuously while he is awake during the first weeks and months. He will love the different tones in voices. During his first month baby may also try to mimic the faces you make and lip movements. Vocal interactions are crucial in the development of baby so even if you feel silly talking to him in public, just do it.

Newborn Feeding: How To Properly Feed Your Newborn Baby- Practice Breastfeeding

21311023053_apgar-test-for-newborn-babies.jpgBeing is a mother is the most wonderful and the most exciting thing in this world. There are certain duties which come along with motherhood. You need to make sure that you follow the duties properly so that you newborn stays fit and fine.
You must be careful about certain things as well. One of the major duties of the mother is to feed the baby. Newborn feeding is very important are certain do’s and don’ts that you must always keep in mind.
Breastfeeding is the major form of feeding that you must follow for the newly born. Other than this, you do not give other foods unless the baby grows a little. But sometimes it becomes quite difficult to understand when the child is hungry.
The child cannot speak so you have to read the cues that the newly born child gives to make you understand that he is hungry. You will find that some of the infants put their fingers inside their mouth and start sucking when they are hungry.
On the other hand some of the infants make certain sounds with their lips when they are hungry. You must always keep a notice for these signs so that you do not have any difficulty in understanding that the child is hungry.
This will help you as well as your infant avoid the frustration. You must also make sure that you feed the infant before it sleeps. Other than newborn feeding, newborn sleep is equally essential. You must pay equal attention to both these things.
In the beginning baby feeding might seem a little difficult because there are certain problems which can show up in the new mother. Sometimes you will find that there is not enough milk supply for the infant to have. This problem is quite common so you need not worry.
There can be various reasons for it. If you breastfeed your child then you must always be careful about the food you eat. Other than this, the mother also requires enough rest and sleep to make sure that the baby gets enough nourishment.
The mother must also have the desire to breastfeed the baby otherwise the milk will not arrive. It is also necessary that you visit the doctor regularly to find out whether the baby is getting enough nourishment. One of the best ways to check this is by getting the weight of the baby.
It is better not to provide milk in bottle for the newly born because it can create a colic baby. In this condition the baby keeps on crying without a valid reason. To avoid this problem in your baby you need to pay more attention to the newborn feeding.

Preserving Health And Beauty In Pregnancy

f_01311023057_0356edited.jpgMost women think that it’s okay to stop exerting effort in looking beautiful during pregnancy but it’s not. Pregnancy is a time when your hormones are in a rage. It is easy to be overwhelmed by new feelings, sensations, and changes in your body that make you feel not in control. Taking care of your pregnant self lets you be in control and preserve your health and beauty. It’s not easy to look in a mirror with disheveled hair and dry, blotchy skin. It’s also frustrating to try and fit yourself in your pre-pregnant outfits. Get rid of the idea that this is normal. What’s normal is a pregnant woman embracing and enjoying her pregnancy by taking care of her body, her health and beauty.

Studies by the MRC/US Anxiety and Stress Disorders Research Unit show that babies born of happy mothers are healthier — they are heavier, more active, and agreeable. They also absorb more nutrients from their first feedings which are essential for their nourishment. Happy mothers are also found to produce better-quality milk for their babies. Negative emotions increase the risk of developing post-pregnancy depression. This affects how a mother bonds and cares for her newborn. The best way to ward off this negativity is to preserve your health and beauty.

First, follow a healthy diet under the specifications of your doctor. Do not assume that the diet your other pregnant friend follows is right for you. Your health and beauty needs are unique. You may have deficiencies or skin care needs, which your friend’s diet cannot address. Second, take supplements and vitamins according to your doctor’s instructions. Never take drugs or any form of medicine without your doctor’s approval. It may have adverse effects on your baby. Third, exercise lightly to avoid gaining excess weight. Expectant mothers normally gain 15-20 pounds; anything higher than that can give you a difficult delivery. Fourth, get adequate sleep and rest. Nothing is more stressful than sleepless nights because of hormones and restlessness. Make up for lost sleep during the day; your body tells you when it needs some shut-eye.

Of course, a pregnant woman’s health and beauty are not limited to her physical needs. Her emotional and psychological well-being are just as important. You know that nothing boosts your confidence than being thought of and complimented as beautiful. You can easily get that goddess feeling again through modern maternity fashion. Take all those loose, tent-like dresses your mother-in-law lent you. Contemporary maternity designers are coming out with new designs that showcase your pregnant body rather than hiding it. Take advantage of your fuller cleavage and wear lower necklines. Show off your pregnant belly in stretch tops that hug your curves in solid colors. Avoid hiding in busy prints and opt for simple, understated accents and accessories. Change your hairstyle — pregnancy is a perfect excuse to try the new pixie cut. Keep your posture straight and your feet pretty in fun flats and funky mules.

Health and beauty are essentials for a pregnant woman. Take care of yours to be better-equipped in caring for your baby. Treat your pregnancy as your time to shine with natural health and beauty. Staying healthy and beautiful during pregnancy is not only easy; it is the best thing you can do for yourself and your baby.

Baby Cribs – Safety Is Key

f_11310672909_e685.jpgYou have just learned that you are expecting a baby. Even if you have other children, you must take a look at cribs. Is the crib you already have an antique? You should look carefully at your second hand crib whether it is an antique or not.

The safety of your new baby makes this necessary. The screws and/or other fasteners such as bolts must be in place and not loose. It is of the utmost importance that this is tested before you place your baby in the crib.

Take something that is almost equal to your 4-month-old baby’s weight. In order to be certain that it will hold its position bounce it off the mattress. If it doesn’t your baby could be hurt seriously or worse. When you set up your nursery, if it isn’t set-up already, seriously consider where you will place your crib.

If you have to place the crib near a window with Venetian blinds, you can either shorten the cords or anchor them to prevent your baby from reaching and getting hold of them. Avoid, if possible placing the crib near the window. As your baby grows into a toddler and begins to climb out of the crib, s/he could become seriously injured in a fall.

Blankets are not necessarily a good idea to use with your baby. Be sure that you avoid anything that could put your baby at risk, especially in the light of SIDS incidents today. The most advisable way to put your baby to bed is in a blanket sleeper.

Make sure to tuck the blanket tightly around and under the foot of the mattress with you baby’s feet touching the footboard if you must have a blanket on your baby. You also want to help prevent your baby from sliding under the blanket and suffocating by not putting the blanket any higher than his chest.

There is a risk of your baby slipping between the mattress and the bumper pads causing suffocation, if bumper pads, which are a great concept, are not secured properly. Bumper pads if used should be fastened in each of the four corners and evenly spaced on each of the two sides. There should be sixteen ties in all, eight for the top and eight for the bottom.

Although mobiles are nice additions you need to take a precaution to prevent your baby from getting entangled in it. It must be removed when your baby starts sitting up by himself. You must also check to see if there are small parts that are removable that your baby could choke on.

No matter is your crib is second hand or one you had for a previous child, or you got it from someone else, the mattress must by checked out carefully. The mattress covering should be checked for any holes or cracks.
